Features, Verification & Validation is a global organization using deep customer knowledge to break down customer features into technical requirements. We drive validation plans to reach the requested feature level and secure end customer satisfaction. We also manage the verification plans thanks to world class physical and virtual tests on the complete vehicle such as durability testing in rigs, fuel economy testing, reliability testing with customers and a variety of simulations and tests with trucks on proving grounds and open roads. Group Manager – Product Validation – Features, Verification & Verification North America

We are now looking for a person who can lead the Product Validation (PV) team in Greensboro, NC, reporting to the FVV NA Chief Engineer.

As Group Manager for PV, you will lead and manage a team of highly skilled test engineers whose primary mission is to assess the performance of our products in demanding, real world applications and provide feedback representative of the critical customer in North America. You will be responsible for the team’s deliveries in Customer Field Tests, Reliability Testing and Performance Validation Testing.

Your main task over time is to develop the team and the individuals to support future challenges contributing to the deliveries start cost, maintenance and advanced engineering projects according to quality, delivery, cost and feature targets.

1.Accountabilities/Responsibilities

We are looking for an inspiring leader, with a positive mind set and interested in developing people as well as technology. As the Group Manager for the Product Validation team, you will:

  • Manage the Product Validation deliveries – respecting budget, delivery time & quality.

    • Customer field testing

    • Reliability testing, including Application-Based Validation (ABV), RT Hot, RT Cold, RT5/RT50

    • Performance Validation Testing (PVT)

  • Drive the development of the Product Validation in North America

  • Optimize the resources within the group based on effectiveness and efficiency, by applying tools developed within the frame of VPS (Volvo Production System) as Pulse, DTL (Daily Team Leadership), A3.

  • Develop the group and secure the competence for future demands

  • Regular follow up and secure that agreed project targets are achieved

  • Secure that the personnel has access to the right methods and tools

  • Take an active part in the FVV NA management team

  • To clarify interface towards other departments in order to make the daily operation more efficient.

  • To continuously develop test methods according to knowledge acquired

  • To participate in global network teams

  • To promote knowledge management activities, including how collect and share customer feedback and expectations with GTT.


We believe this is a position for a person with high ambitions and a strong will to develop personally while getting a very good insight in the way of operating a strong Customer focused organization on a global level.

In this position, you will be leading a team of highly skilled Test Engineers located in Greensboro, NC and Denver, CO.

2.Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in an Engineering or technical discipline is required. Master’s degree is preferred.

  • Supervisory experience as Manager with direct reports

  • 5-10 years of Product Development experience in the automotive industry

  • Experience working with testing, data collection and post-processing, instrumentation.

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

  • Excellent in team development and interest in how each person can contribute to the team.
