  • The Position

    The Manager, Systems Engineering leads a team to ensure all supported systems are engineered effectively and running properly in order to support critical business applications. He/she leads systems engineering efforts and provides hosting support for ArchMI, PMI and domestic/international subsidiaries. The incumbent oversees a team of approximately 8-10 senior engineers and/or systems managers/leads and identifies the overall goals and objectives of the business, determines the functionality required to meet those needs and manages resources accordingly.

    Job Responsibilities

    1. Manages staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment, selection, training, development, performance management and recognition.
    2. Acts as a technical subject matter expert or lead where required, using a combination of insights into technology and ongoing business needs to make impactful system architecture and design decisions.
    3. Assists with the definition and execution on system and software standards to achieve effective and efficient systems management at scale.
    4. Ensures quality of existing and new system implementations, guiding adjustments where necessary to generate high quality product.
    5. Manages relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure desired service levels are maintained or exceeded.
    6. Stay abreast of industry trends and advances in supported technologies that would add business value, making recommendations to senior management where applicable.

    Required Skills/Experience

    1. Broad expertise in Intel hardware, Windows operating systems, network systems and LAN/WAN environments supported.
    2. Experience with and/or solid understanding of Agile methodologies.
    3. Good experience to work with and integrate providers and partners who provide Data center services
    4. Extensive experience supporting various Microsoft back-office applications/services (Active Directory, SharePoint, Exchange, InfoPath, MSSQL, consolidated print services) with the ability to perform extensive impact analysis and manage changes/configurations accordingly.
    5. Good experience automating system administration functions with Powershell or other scripting.
    6. Experience supporting and/or implementing Fax over IP solutions, like Rightfax and file transfer solutions.
    7. Strong knowledge of VMware server virtualization.
    8. Full understanding and experience using enterprise monitoring and logging solutions, like Solarwinds and Splunk.
    9. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with technical and non technical contacts.
    10. Effective organization and presentation abilities to present ideas and recommendations to senior management and executive-level individuals.
    11. Strategic problem solving and decision making skills.
    12. Highly developed leadership and motivational skills.

    Education

    Required knowledge and skills would typically be acquired through a Bachelors degree and 8 years related experience including 3 years management experience or equivelent combination.
